Medical services and clinics

Below are the services and clinics available in your area.

Cervical smears

All women between the age of 20 and 65 should have a regular smear test every three to five years. We send out appointment reminders to all of our patients to let you know when your next smear is due.

Baby and child development

We send out appointments for regular checks and immunisations for pre-school children. This is to make sure that our doctors and health visitors can check that children are developing normally and that there’s nothing to worry about.

Baby immunisations

You will receive notification of an appointment directly from the Health Authority.  It is important that you bring the invitation card, your child’s’ red book and the consent form to every visit.  If your child cannot attend or is unwell please contact the surgery on 01749 672137 and let us know, we will not give an injection if your child is unwell – the Health Authority will then send another invitation.

Reminder of the Day

  1. Is your child well?
  2. Have you got your red book?
  3. Have you got your appointment invite card?
  4. Have you signed your consent form?

Contraceptive services

Our doctors and nurses give confidential advice on all aspects of family planning, including coil fitting and emergency contraception.

Health screening

We offer a wide range of health screening for men and women at our surgery.

Mammograms

Women aged between 50 and 60 are advised to attend the Breast Screening Unit every three years for a mammography. This is to make sure we can check and detect any abnormalities as soon as possible. These appointments are sent out by the local Breast Unit.

Maternity care

Our antenatal and postnatal clinics are held at our surgery by our doctors and midwives.

Travel advice, vaccinations and immunisations

Travel advice

The practice nurses will give advice on foreign travel and any other immunisations required.

A minimum of eight weeks’ notice is required.  If you are unable to give this, you may wish to check whether we have an available appointment.  If the nurses are fully booked you should be prepared to arrange your immunisation through a private travel clinic.

Not all travel vaccinations are available from the surgery at no cost; some drugs such as for malaria prophylaxis have to be purchased by the patient from a pharmacist (some on a private prescription – private prescriptions are charged at £15).

For Yellow Fever vaccination, which will incur a charge, you will need to visit a private travel clinic. These can be found by using the following website: https://nathnacyfzone.org.uk/search-centres

Useful travel websites

A public access website called 'Fit forTravel' provided by the NHS (Scotland) offers a wide range of Travel advice, including vaccinaton information. It gives travel health information for people travelling abroad from the UK.

For anyone who is travelling overseas we ask them to complete the form below. This is important as you will provide our Nurse with information about your planned journey and this will help her to assess exactly which vaccinations you need or are recommended to have.

You can save time by downloading and completing the holiday vaccination questionnaire.  Post it to the surgery and book a 20 minute travel appointment (per patient) with one of our practice nurses.
